Project Description:
Uzpromstroybank (UzPSB) is implementing a comprehensive project to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, aiming to become a leader in sustainable development within Uzbekistan’s banking sector. Launched in 2019 with the establishment of the Green Banking Department, the initiative spans three core areas:

1. Environmental Impact:
- Installation of solar panels and collectors has generated 1.7 million kWh of clean energy, resulting in nearly UZS 1 billion in savings.
- In 2023, the bank sourced 100% of its electricity (6.7 million kWh) from renewable sources.
- Participation in national reforestation efforts led to the planting of 84,000 trees in 2023, with a goal of 145,000 trees in 2024.

2. Social Responsibility:
- Employment opportunities were created for 78 people with disabilities, and a women’s leadership talent pool was established.
- Over 300 employees engaged in charitable and volunteer activities, supporting local communities.

3. Corporate Governance:
- The bank developed a comprehensive ESG policy, integrated environmental and social risk management, and conducts annual corporate governance assessments with international experts.

The bank actively collaborates with international organisations including the IFC, EBRD, and KPMG, and is a participant in the UN Global Compact. It has received the EBRD Green Trade Award three times for its green finance initiatives.

Through this project, Uzpromstroybank is not only contributing to the green economy of Uzbekistan but also setting a benchmark for responsible and future-focused banking in the region.
